Globe-Trotting Energy Expert and Author Charlotte Dennett Shares On ‘District Insiders’ Long-Secret Pivot Events, Strategies that Shaped Our World and Understanding
Washington, DC — Charlotte Dennett, an author, commentator and attorney whose father played a key role during the mid-1940s in the United States alliance with Saudi Arabia on energy and foreign affairs policies, describes on the latest District Insiders podcast her findings on those events — as well as the implications and her rare insights into how book publishers can scheme against their own authors whose books are too critical of the powerful.
Hosts Andrew Kreig and Wayne Madsen explore with Dennett what the public —including authors who naively believe publishers want only book sales, not useful relationships with the powerful — needs to understand about such vital matters.
Dennett, describes why she and her husband and co-author Gerard “Jerry” Colby drew on their first-hand research – including about her father’s suspicious death in a 1947 air crash over Ethiopia -- to raise public awareness about policies that have shaped global energy and military-related policies for generations. She describes also what they learned during a decade of litigation against her husband’s publisher Prentice-Hall regarding the publishing industry’s secret practice of sometimes “privishing” a published book if the content becomes, in the phrase of the old Wild West bounty hunters, “worth more dead than alive.”
That was the case as they proved in federal court regarding Prentice-Hall’s secret sabotage of her husband’s in-depth 1974 history, DuPont Dynasty: Behind the Nylon Curtain, whose publishing promotional support and Book-of-the-Month Club selection.
The litigation showed the following: The book suddenly disappeared after the powerful DuPont company and family complained to the publisher in secret and at the highest levels. In a major irregularity then hidden from Colby, the DuPont complaints were not the typical issues about questions of defamation and inaccuracy that sometimes arise in publishing. Instead, Dupont essentially complained about embarrassment (which is not a viable legal basis for a lawsuit) over well-documented findings regarding its history as a major manufacturer, including of weapons and other products that might prove dangerous.
Dennett describes also how organizers of the 14th Annual Whistleblower Summit and Film festival this summer bestowed their Pillar Award for civic dedication and courage on her husband, a former president of the National Writers Union, at the National Press Club.
The interview describes in more detail the importance of the Dennett-Colby lifetime of research. As one example, District Insiders co-host describes his parallel experience identifying other authors who strongly suspected and in some cases proved that their published books on such topics as the political influence of morbidly wealthy families, mob influence on legitimate business, President John F. Kennedy’s assassination and similar sensitive matters were secretly sabotaged by the targets complaining to ostensibly public-spirited book publishers seeking merely book sales in the tradition of a free press: •

Dr. Gregory H. Stanton, founding president and chairman of Genocide Watch (https://www.genocidewatch.com), retired this summer from work as a diplomat, attorney,  professor, author and globe-trotting, award-winning human rights activist. He founded Genocide Watch in 1999 after serving the previous seven years at the U.S. State Department, where he drafted UN Security Council resolutions helping Rwanda and other afflicted nations.  His many human rights awards include one for “extraordinary contributions to the practice of diplomacy exemplifying intellectual courage,” based on his dissent of U.S. policy on the Rwandan genocide.  His career began with 1960s black voter registration in Mississippi. With an undergraduate degree from Oberlin College, he later obtained graduate degrees from Harvard Divinity School, Yale Law School and the University of Chicago, where he earned a doctorate in cultural anthropology .
Moderator Andrew Kreig , a Summit host committee member, is an attorney, journalist, author and longtime non-profit executive based in Washington, DC. He edits the Justice Integrity Project (www.justice-integrity.org), an investigative reporting and commentary site. In 1987, he became a whistleblower in publishing “Spiked,” a pioneering exposé of the increasing dangers of control of the news media by major corporations that sometimes manage news coverage with hidden agendas. Later he led the Wireless Communications Association as president from 1996-2008 advocating for the emerging wireless Internet platform. His latest book documents hidden Russian interference in U.S. and global elections and media. He earned law degrees from Yale and the University of Chicago and is active on numerous civic boards.

Patrick Reynolds’ advocacy work and motivational talks to youth and adults have made him a well-known and respected champion of a smokefree society. He has helped remind many thousands of people of the dangers of smoking. Patrick watched his father, RJ Reynolds, Jr., his oldest brother RJ Reynolds III, and other members of his family die from cigarette-induced emphysema and lung cancer. Wayne Madsen is a journalist, newspaper columnist, and author of more than 25 books on intelligence matters, historical events, and the dangers of neo-fascism in threatening democracy in the United States and abroad. Based for many years in Washington, DC, he is a former U.S. Navy officer and NSA analyst. The “District Insiders” podcast hosted elections expert Nathan Taylor to address growing concerns about the fairness of recent U.S. elections and threats to midterms
Washington, DC — Nathan Taylor, a cybersecurity professional with the non-partisan, non-profit Election Truth Alliance (ETA), shared on the most recent edition of the District Insiders podcast his analysis of recent and forthcoming U.S. elections security issues.
District Insider hosts Andrew Kreig and Wayne Madsen, reporters who have covered election rigging scandals for more than a decade, explored with Taylor, right, what the public most needs to understand about recent allegations about illegal or suspected election manipulation in U.S. elections.
Taylor’s concern is that top state elections officials from across the United States often avoid reviewing evidence of suspicious vote tabulation results illustrating irregularities. A further problem, he adds, is that private contractors often obtain contracts from officials due to questionable relationships and potential lobbying and bribes, and these companies often obscure their ownership and top management. which hinders oversight of who owns the systems that count the public’s votes.
Even so, the ETA has documented significant problems with election security. Taylor points to the ETA’s recent litigation in Pennsylvania as an illustration of procedural gaps identified in a key 2024 swing state.
With the stakes rarely higher than this year’s U.S. elections, Taylor invited support via ETA’s website to join ETA’s all-volunteer efforts that include research, events and other outreach to protect local communities and democracy.
